When you take the family out for the day do you find that the car that's plenty big enough all week suddenly isn't? Hardly worth the extra cost of having a bigger car just for those family days out though is it? All the rest of the time the car you've got is fine and besides it's easy to park, when you manage to find a space, it's fairly economical and there's no too much of it to clean.
Then there's the Environment to think of and anyway you like your car and you don't want to change it for some time yet. Still you could do with more space. It's not for the family. There's plenty of room for them. It's all the stuff you want to take on those family outings that fills the car up and makes it so uncomfortable.
So what's the answer? Is there an answer even? Well yes there is and it will work out a whole lot cheaper than buying a great big estate car that you'll be driving around all week on your own like as not.
Even if you did buy that big estate car you soon fill up all that space behind the back seats and you can't put the back seats down because you need them for people to sit on. So you wouldn't have gained much really. Certainly not in proportion to the extra costs.
The solution is beautifully simple. Fit a
roof top box to the car you already have. You can buy
roof boxes in a range of models to any model of car whatever make it is. Sizes range up to 580 litres, all made of the most amazingly tough and hard wearing material, and when they're empty they're much lighter than you'd expect.
Once you have a
roof top box fitted to your car you'll wonder how you ever managed without it. All the stuff that used to have to be packed around you in the car has disappeared, leaving you room to sit comfortably in your seats unencumbered and free to move. You'll only have in the car with you things you actually want to have handy as you travel.
Everything else is securely locked up in that streamlined pod on the roof, protected from the elements and out of sight. What the thief can't see is less likely to be stolen.
Thule roof boxes are designed for the Thule roof bar system to provide the ultimate in roof load security but they are quite compatible with other manufacturers' roof bars as well. There are extensive ranges of designs and sizes of
roof top boxes available from all the best manufacturers.
Thule roof boxes are very cleverly designed to be aerodynamically efficient so as to keep the effect on your car's performance and handling to the absolute minimum. Don't forget it's there though when you go into a multi-storey car park with restricted headroom!. I might be as well to measure your own garage doorway before you drive in for the first time with a roof top box fitted. The height of vehicles without
roof boxes varies quite a lot so beware.
Because of it's highly efficient aerodynamic shape, any good roof top box, such as the
Thule roof boxes, will affect your car's fuel consumption very little. You'd certainly have notice a much greater effect if you'd bought a bigger car.
All the best
roof boxes are available with a multipoint central locking system which is very easy to operate using just one key and
Thule roofbox lids are designed to stay open using a patented dual force system so it won't drop on your head and you don't have to hold it open with one hand whilst you're putting stuff in or taking it out.
Before you can fit a roof box to your vehicle it will be necessary to first fit roof bars because all
roof top boxes are designed to fit to roof bars and there is no other way to attach them. Any good quality roof bars will be suitable, but, if you haven't got roof bars already you'll have to buy new ones anyway, so it makes sense to buy roof bars of the same make as your chosen
roof top box. That way you maintain the same standard of quality throughout and ensure compatibility of fittings. The Thule system in particular fits together so well it seems a pity not to stick with it throughout and fit a
Thule roofbox to Thule roof bars.
Fitting roof bars and a
roof top box yourself is not difficult but it's best to consider having them fitted professionally. Safety first is the watchword here.
